The 6th Regional Seminar on Energy Efficiency in Buildings Held in Konya
The sixth session of the “Regional Training Program on Energy Efficiency in Buildings,” organized in cooperation with the General Directorate of Professional Services of the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change and İZODER, was held on November 6 at Konya Bayır Diamond Hotel with broad participation. As Bonus Yalıtım, we closely follow and attach great importance to such initiatives carried out to enhance energy efficiency, improve building standards, and promote the widespread adoption of proper insulation practices.
The training program was attended by provincial directorates, architects and engineers, licensing and occupancy permit units, professional chambers, building inspection organizations, material manufacturers, and project designers from the provinces of Afyonkarahisar, Aksaray, Antalya, Burdur, Isparta, Karaman, Kayseri, Konya, Nevşehir, and Niğde. Throughout the program, topics such as energy efficiency legislation in buildings, the updated provisions of the TS 825 standard, green building and settlement certification systems, and Energy Identity Certificate processes were comprehensively addressed. In addition, information was shared on recent sector developments, with emphasis placed on the energy savings, comfort, and sustainability benefits provided by insulation applications in buildings.
In his opening speech, Bonus Yalıtım CEO and İZODER Chairman Emrullah Eruslu provided information about the ongoing work carried out with the General Directorate of Professional Services. He stated that the revised TS 825: Thermal Insulation Requirements for Buildings Standard, updated through the contributions of the Ministry and İZODER, became mandatory as of April 1, 2025, and said:
“With the revised TS 825 Standard, our U-values have been improved, paving the way for thicker and higher-quality insulation applications. We expect the new TS 825 Standard to improve energy efficiency in buildings by 25 percent compared to the previous standard. Thanks to the revision made in TS 825, insulation projects will now be designed by considering both heating and cooling demands rather than only heating energy requirements in hot climate regions such as Antalya. We have also made the İZODER TS 825 calculation software—one of the most important tools enabling the implementation of the standard—available free of charge to all relevant stakeholders, including designers, inspectors, and municipal personnel. According to the new standard, minimum insulation thicknesses in Konya, which is classified within the 4th Climate Zone, have been updated as follows: exterior walls from 6–7 cm to 9–10 cm, roofs from 11–12 cm to 13–15 cm, and floors from 7 cm to 10 cm. We believe that the TS 825 Standard will contribute to reducing our country’s energy import figures and support net-zero targets. We extend our thanks to all ministry staff and committee members—particularly the General Directorate of Professional Services of the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change—as well as to the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources and the Turkish Standards Institute for their contributions to this revision, and we hope it will be beneficial for our country.”
As Bonus Yalıtım, we believe that these training programs make significant contributions to increasing insulation awareness and improving application quality. We will continue to stand alongside the industry in every step taken toward reducing energy consumption, ensuring environmental sustainability, and strengthening building safety.
