Long-Lasting Waterproofing Solution for the Ankara–Kırıkkale–Delice Motorway
As part of the Ankara–Kırıkkale–Delice Motorway Project, currently under construction through the collaboration of Fernas İnşaat and Ada Dış Ticaret, 7,500 m² of Bonus Membran Proof was used for the waterproofing of service facilities along the route.Selected for structures that support the continuous operation of motorway infrastructure, including fuel stations, administrative buildings, and service units, Bonus Membran Proof contributes to the long-term protection of critical structural elements against water and moisture.
The strength of a motorway project is measured not only by its asphalt, viaducts, or tunnels. Service facilities and administrative buildings that provide uninterrupted services along the route are also essential components of this major infrastructure. On the 120-kilometre Ankara–Kırıkkale–Delice Motorway, which will connect Ankara to eastern and northern transport corridors via Kırıkkale, ensuring the reliable protection of these structures against water plays an important role in the project’s long-term performance.
Water is often a slow-acting factor in reinforced concrete structures, yet over time it can lead to significant consequences. Water and moisture penetrating through the porous structure of concrete or through cracks may contribute to problems such as reinforcement corrosion, surface deterioration, and dampness. For this reason, waterproofing is not merely an application designed to prevent leakage; it is a fundamental protective layer that supports the durability and service life of structural elements.
The performance of membrane systems, however, is determined by more than the material’s watertightness alone. The waterproofing must remain continuous across foundations, walls, and connection details, while the right product must be combined with the correct application method. Particularly in foundation areas where access and subsequent intervention can be difficult, controlling the contact between water and the structure from the construction stage is critically important for long-term structural safety.
Bonus Membran Proof is a high-performance waterproofing membrane modified with elastomeric SBS and developed for foundation and single-sided wall waterproofing applications. By fully bonding to fresh concrete under the effects of concrete pressure and heat of hydration, it creates strong integration between the membrane and the concrete. This structure helps limit the migration of water between the membrane and the foundation concrete in the event of localised water ingress, while also allowing targeted intervention through injection where necessary.
While its polyester felt reinforcement supports the product’s mechanical strength, Bonus Membran Proof maintains its flexibility even at temperatures as low as -20 °C thanks to its specially developed formulation. Its structure also provides enhanced protection against punctures, offering an important advantage against the mechanical impacts that may occur during foundation applications.
In addition to its performance, Bonus Membran Proof stands out for the efficiency it brings to the application process. Its single-layer application, combined with the fact that it requires no primer, protective concrete layer, or geotextile felt, reduces the number of on-site application steps and provides significant time and labour savings. Self-adhesive overlap sections on both the upper and lower surfaces further increase installation speed while contributing to strong continuity at the joints.
As part of the project, the construction of new service facilities along the route will continue in phases.
